Lisa Harvey

It could be said that every thing I am and have rode in on the back of a horse. Through my deep connection with horses, I developed a love of nature and for observing what is around me. Animals - horses in particular - have taught me to be the person I am.

As a teacher I am open, accepting and respectful of my students.  This approach helps me to offer classes that are fluid and responsive to students’ needs.  I believe the deepest sense of peace comes from feeling safe and accepted — this is how many students describe how my work, both in classes and privately, makes them feel. People have remarked that, no matter what their level of experience with mind-body teachings is, they feel my classes bring them to a deeper understanding of themselves and how they engage in any activity.

My path began with my foundation work in the Alexander Techniques. I graduated from a three year training program at the Alexander Technique School of New England in 1997, an experience that ignited a passion for study in Alternative Health and wellness practices. Following this, I pursued other studies including:

  • Jin Shin Jyutsu - certified in 2003 with 120 hour basic training, and over 400 hours of total training.

  • Reiki - certified through level three Reiki

  • Sivinanda Yoga Teacher Training  - 200 hour in 2013.

  • Certification in Zero Balancing - 2017

In addition to these modalities, I bring three decades of experience working with horses and riders, a deep study of movement in itself, and a second degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate,  After many years of study in alternative wellness practices, I attended the University Without Walls at UMass Amherst, and graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Complementary and Alternative Healthcare.

I continue to study the relationship of mind and body through workshops and seminars in order to bring you the best of these alternative therapies. My students have experienced relief from chronic pain, improved their posture, increased strength and balance, and reduced stress. Overall, they report feeling physically and emotionally healthier.

My ongoing Alexander Technique class on Saturdays from 8:30-9:30 has been running for over 7 years and continues to be one of my favorite classes to teach.  All are welcome to join anytime - so come on in and see what’s cookin’!
