Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Community Yoga!  We are so glad you found us and we look forward to sharing our love of yoga with you. Here are answers to many of the common questions we are asked.  If you don't see the information you need or have additional questions, please email us at info@community-yoga.com.

I'm new to Community Yoga. What do I need to bring to class?

Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle if you wish.  Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of class to give you time to meet the teacher and get yourself oriented to our studio.  We have 2 bathrooms for changing clothes if needed. Your teacher will be able to answer any questions and will want to know any specific health concerns you may have.  We are glad to have you visit our studio and hope you will find a class that suits your needs and helps you get started on a path of discovery and health!

How do I sign up for classes and buy class cards?

You must pre-register for classes and pay online.

Community Yoga uses Mindbody software to handle online registrations and payments.  By logging into your account, you can purchase class cards, sign up for classes and pay for classes online, either from a computer or through Mindbody’s phone app.  It’s fast and easy to do this ahead of class – and lets you get straight to your practice when you arrive at the studio.

You can create or access your studio account here.  Your username is your email address.

Using your phone? Please download the Mindbody app here.

Please try to arrive a few minutes before the start of class to give both you and the teacher the opportunity to start the class on-time.

Drop-ins will be accepted at the discretion of the teacher and as space allows.

If you prefer to pay with cash or a check, or if you want to pay with a credit card over the phone, please contact us to arrange payment.

I am new to yoga.  Which classes are best for me?

We offer a range of classes that are open to students of all levels.  Consider your own physical ability and desires when looking for the “right” class.  Basic Yoga Flow, Morning Yoga, Mid-Week Yoga Break, Slow Flow Yoga and Restorative Yoga offer a slower paced practice, while our other classes are more strenuous and physical.  Please inform our teachers if you have any physical issues or concerns, and students are always encouraged to modify poses as needed for your body.  There is no competition in yoga, and all of our classes offer instruction, support and encouragement for your individual practice.  See our Classes page for a full description of classes – and please email us if you have any questions.

Do I need a mat or other equipment?

The studio offers use of our yoga mats and props free of charge.  Please feel bring your own if you wish.  Please also feel free to bring a water bottle to class.

What about parking?

There is plenty of parking near the studio on the street or in the town lot on Ames Street.  Don't forget to feed the meters! Greenfield Savings Bank graciously allows us to use their lot during non-banking hours.  Please do not park in the GSB during the weekdays or on Saturday mornings.  Also, please do not park in the TD Bank lot behind our building.

Is the studio accessible?

Our studio is located on the second floor and is only accessible by stairs.

How much do classes cost?

Our single class rate is $18.  Class cards offer significant savings and convenience. We offer a 5-class card for $75 and a 10-class card for $135 that can be used for all classes, including Restorative Yoga.  Class cards are valid for 3 months.  Class cards cannot be used for Candlelight Yoga or Continuum Somanautiko classes.

Can I sign up for Continuum Somanautiko?

Megan Bathory-Peeler runs this class separately and handles all signups and payments independently.  Contact Megan directly at megan@somanautiko.com or 413-772-0078.

Is Community Yoga fragrance-free?

Yes.  An increasing number of people today are negatively affected by common chemicals and fragrances.  Based on allergies, asthma or other chemical sensitivity, they may have difficulty breathing, headaches, flu-like symptoms and more. We ask that you not wear perfumes or other scented products at the studio and appreciate your cooperation with this request.

Do you rent the studio?

We occasionally rent the studio for private events, classes and workshops, group gatherings, lectures, etc. but regularly scheduled classes always take precedence.  To protect our hardwood floors, no shoes are allowed in the studio at any time.  Email us for more information if you are interested.

Interested in bartering for yoga classes?

Community Yoga has a small, dedicated group that cleans the studio and puts up flyers in town in exchange for the opportunity to attend classes for free at the studio.  If you are interested, please call the studio at (413) 774-4700 or email info@community-yoga.com

Weather Cancellations?

This is New England! If the weather is not cooperating, we try to give adequate advance information about class cancellations.  If you have a question about whether class will be held, check your email and the website for updates and notifications.

See you on the mat!
