A Gentle Approach to the New Year
Start the New Year with softness in this auspicious yin practice centered around Ganesha, the divine figure from the Hindu pantheon associated with new beginnings, transitions, and removing obstacles. This special January 3rd class includes stories about Ganesha, and a yin yoga practice with mudra and mantra to inspire a gentle approach to following your heart’s desires. New Year’s intentions (sankalpa) that arise from the practice will be sweetly sealed with sound at the close of practice with a soothing live music savasana.
Yin yoga is a supportive way to help balance all of the yang energy in our busy lives where we are constantly called to stimuli outside of ourselves, and it can help us to cool down our mind and body with gentleness. Yin yoga is also a complementary practice for an active yoga and exercise routine, as it focuses on connective tissue and may support muscle recovery and joint health.
Yin yoga helps you connect to your body through slow and intentional movement. Find harmony and balance on your mat so that you may carry it into your life.
This class is accessible to practitioners of all levels including newcomers to yoga. Please refrain from wearing perfume or other scented products.
