Yoga For Osteoporosis: A Practice Series with Barbara Polowy

A 4-week series on Saturdays: April 20- May 11, 1:30 - 3 p.m.

Recent research shows that a regular yoga asana (yoga-poses) practice can stabilize and even reverse osteoporosis and osteopenia by improving bone density and bone quality. Yoga also promotes good posture, thus helping to maintain spinal integrity, and builds overall strength and balance to reduce the risk for falls.

This series of four classes will benefit anyone who has or is at risk for osteoporosis or osteopenia and is interested in yoga as a complementary therapy to standard medical treatment. Each class will include a series of postures to build healthy bones and improve balance, tips on adapting standard yoga poses to ensure skeletal safety, and conclude with Pranayama (yoga breathing) and a restorative sequence to quiet the nervous system.

$70.00 for the series, $20 per class drop-in.

Students are welcome to individual classes or the whole series!
